Statement from Dan Dorman Regarding Agreement to Fund Broadband Infrastructure

“Businesses and families across Greater Minnesota have reason to celebrate today because of the historic first step Minnesota has taken in recognizing that the lack of broadband is crippling rural communities.

“Though much work is ahead of us, and it will be years before every community is connected – by funding broadband our state is sending a strong message that with the right tools Greater Minnesota businesses can compete with anyone from South Dakota to South Korea.”

“Whether it is a small graphic design company in Bagley that hires another employee, or a 7th grader in Brown County that completes a social studies project online – the broadband investment will long be remembered as instrumental to both economic development and education in Greater Minnesota.

“This legislation could not have passed without the resolve and commitment of House Speaker Paul Thissen, Jobs and Economic Development Chair Representative Tim Mahoney and Representative Erik Simonson. Greater Minnesota communities owe a great deal of thanks for their leadership.”
