Office of Broadband Development to host regional meetings about newly created grant program

One of the top economic development achievements of the 2014 legislative session was the creation of a $20 million Broadband Infrastructure Fund to help bring high-quality broadband to areas that currently lack adequate Internet service.

In the weeks since the legislation to create the fund passed in May, the Minnesota Office of Broadband Development (OBD) has been developing the application and fine-tuning ways in which the grant program will be implemented.  To provide information about the proposed application process and to gather feedback, the OBD will be conducting a series of regional meetings throughout the state this summer. In addition, the Blandin Foundation will host an information webinar on July 10. The meetings and webinar are free and open to anyone.

9 a.m., Thursday, July 10
Danna MacKenzie, Executive Director of the Office of Broadband Development, will provide an overview on the status of the grant program and application process.
