Legislative Session kicks off today
The 89th session of the Minnesota Legislature began today. The first day included the usual pomp and circumstance as 26 new House members were sworn in. Republicans have now taken majority control of the House and Rep. Kurt Daudt (R-Crown) was officially named Speaker. The Senate, which was not up for reelection in 2014, remains in Democrat control.
Although the session just started, the GMNP has already been hard at work for several weeks drafting legislation, developing media strategies and drumming up support for our priorities, including workforce housing, job training, broadband, transportation and more.
A lot has been written in the media about Greater Minnesota’s impact on the election and how it could affect the 2015 session. In this MPR story, which aired today, GMNP Executive Director Dan Dorman expounded on the GMNP’s priorities and goals for the session.
We hope that the focus continues to stay on Greater Minnesota’s needs and concerns as the session progresses. Keep checking our website for additional updates!
