House GOP’s failure to fund broadband hurts Greater Minnesota businesses

Below is a statement to the media from GMNP Executive Director Dan Dorman regarding the House GOP’s decision to eliminate funding for the Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program. A PDF version of the statement is available here.

“In meeting with business and community leaders across the state, I hear over and over again about the dire need for better broadband in Greater Minnesota. High-speed Internet service is not a luxury, it is an absolute necessity for job and business growth. With their decision to eliminate funding for the Border-to-Border Broadband program, the House GOP is ignoring one of the most important economic development issues facing our state. I urge the House Republicans to restore broadband funding and show the businesses in Greater Minnesota that they deserve the same quality Internet service currently available in the metro area.”
