Legislative leaders list transportation, taxes as top priorities at session preview
Gov. Dayton and legislative leaders from the House and Senate participated in a legislative preview session Thursday. The hour-long forum, sponsored by Forum News Service, can be viewed here. Questions ranged from transportation to tax policy and ways to help Greater Minnesota. Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) and the Governor listed transportation as a top priority; House Speaker Kurt Daudt (R-Crown) listed tax relief. When asked what it would take for this to be a successful session for Greater Minnesota, Sen. Bakk mentioned additional Local Government Aid and a long-term transportation plan; Gov. Dayton touted broadband, property tax relief for farmers and help to cover the costs of water infrastructure; and Speaker Daudt highlighted funding for roads and bridges, as well as property tax relief for farmers and businesses.
