DEED awards $2.87M in grants for workforce housing projects in Greater Minnesota

The DEED Workforce Housing Development Program, which was enacted in 2015 and supported by the GMNP, recently funded four additional workforce housing projects in Greater Minnesota. As opposed to other state programs that focus on low-income housing, this DEED program seeks to jump-start middle-income housing in areas that are seeking to grow but where local housing markets are broken.

Grant recipients include the cities of Worthington, Warroad and Glenwood and the Cook County/Grand Marais Economic Development Authority. In total, 149 units will be constructed with help from the fund, supporting employers like Marvin Windows and Sanford Health.
